Carrying on an annual tradition of celebrating National Nude Week, River Island Nature Retreat is proud to sponsor the Samurai Beach 2008 4WD Nude Muster, at Anna Bay, Port Stephens, on Saturday 2nd February, 2008.
Naturists have been gathering at Samurai Beach, a legal nude beach, for a number of years and at this year’s 3rd Annual Nude Beach Festival, in association with the Sydney Sun and Social Club, Coast and Valley Nudists and Bare Tracks, the River Island naturist resort will be ensuring that participants have, yet again, a fun-filled day.
Categories in the 4WD event include: 4WD camper. Toorak Taxi Custom 4 WD and Super off-roader.
It will be another great family fun, beach picnic day, with show bags, beach volleyball (of course!), petanque and lots of fun.

Gallery26, Milsons Point, Sydney.

...
I found it to be a really friendly place, so very much in a lovely part of Sydney.
Not that Alfred Street was quiet, or serene. There were preparations going on for the New Years Eve celebrations. It was sunny and close to hot, outside.
An interesting perspective on Sydney Harbour. The signs to Luna Park, bringing back memories.
The gallery a very light, in two senses of the word, exhibitions pace.
...
I was impressed by the variety of work, on display.
Surely the paintings that I, OzCloggie (Jo) display, on RedBubble show that I'm thoroughly enjoying painting in a style that has more to do with Impressionism than with providing the world with new ways of looking at things, but I appreciate the talent and skill, gone into the art on display, in Gallery26!

Any naturists left out there?
Apart from pleasant stays at River Island Nature Retreat, is there anywhere else, legal and safe to go? What are the ANF and the FBA doing? Have not seen them in the mainstream media, for a while.

Armonds Beach is not Armonds Beach, apparently.

I have been getting concerned about a few spelling errors, found in the new Sun and Health but this time, I was too quick to jump in with my red biro!!
The ArmOnds Beach Leisure Group reports that the name should have been ArmAnds Beach, all along.
Read about it, and other naturist matters, in Issue 5, of Sun and Health magazine!

Re: Obelisk Beach (and Cobblers)
Jo,
I was reading recently about Blacks Beach in California. There has
been a lot of work done by the regulars to deal with undesirable activity.
Look up blacksbeach.org
It seems the important thing is that the regulars who are there
understand how precarious the situation is and that there is such a
strong need to take action.
I know that from what I hear when I'm at Cobblers is that people just
snigger about bad behaviour. Do they appreciate being able to be at
this beach? We could lose it.
Last summer I tried challenging a guy who was handling himself under a
newspaper he wasn't reading as he sat very close to a couple. I spoke
up when they went in for a swim. He became defensive and aggressive
and told me to butt out and leave him alone. I'm not the kind who
likes confrontation but I felt I had to give it a try. I expected him
to quit and leave but his aggressive response floored me.
At blacks beach the regulars will surround someone who is taking
photos of women and give their camera a swim in the salt water. Safety
in numbers works for them.
The other difficulty with these kind of people is their clever excuses
and denials of doing anything wrong.
I know the topic here is more about the whole hook ups that happen
around Obelisk in the bush and somewhat less around Cobblers and the
concern that the local council has about it. I don't know what the
answer is except that we need the police to raid them and there needs
to be some good signage warning them to not engage in it.
At least getting some discussion here about it might be a start.
Come on guys. Start posting here. Speak up. Summer is coming. Aren't
you looking forward to getting out there in the sun, air and water?
It might be your last season here.

Middle Head, Sydney - I'm on a roll. -Crossposting.
Page 13, Sydney Morning Herald, today, has a full-page article regarding the Sydney Harbour foreshore and its surrounds. No. There is no mention of nude bathing or the two currently, legal beaches. It reminds readers that, "On September 5, 1998, a month before the federal election, Howard announced his government would return the sites to the people of Sydney." It features a photo of Mr Geoff Bailey of the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust at Middle Head (with a "winning view", in the background) and an undated picture of migrants, very much in textile, swimming at North Head Quarantine Station. With Middle Head in the spotlight, like this, it would be so good if there were statements, thrown into the mix, by the people who have enjoyed two of the beaches there, (Cobblers and Obelisk) ever since they were made legal. The second-last paragraph is a worry: Namely: Linda Bergin reflects that, despite the happy outcome, little has changed. "If you're lucky, if the community is wealthy and well-connected, you can win your battles if you're ready to persist. But that's no basis for planning for significant public assets."

P.S.. Bob was in LAST Saturday's Sydney Morning Herald, although you wouldn't know it. The picture of his naked back was used to 'enhance' an article on Sydney Harbour. ( The photo had been taken and used, previously, when Bob was still president of the Free Beach Association of NSW.)
